We have 12 blackberries currently connected to a BB Pro server version 4.1
Just set up a new box with BES Express 5.0.4 running on it.
Do I have to wipe all the Blackberries before I can move to the new server?
What is the easiest way to migrate them?

no wipe needed with transporter

OK, so I have now discovered that the existing BB Pro 4.1 server database was added to an old Backup Exec install of SQL 2000 MSDE, and that it was installed as part of the Backup Exec install and not separately, so I can't do an in place upgrade of the MSDE to SQL server express 2005. My understanding is that the transporter won't work with MSDE, and I can't currently uninstall Backup Exec, so I guess I am screwed and forced to move the users one by one, first wiping their blackberries?
So, if that is the case, what is the easiest way to proceed? Do a security wipe from the 4.1 server of each phone, delete it from the 4.1 server, and then activate it from the new one?

BE hould work with SQL 2005 in place upgrade
Move the database

Thanks Knotty, but I am throwing my hands up.
More work that it is worth for the 7-8 users that are left now. Already wiped and moved a few of them.
My problem is now the 4 remote users where I can't grab, backup, wipe, reactivate and restore their phones.
My plan is to tell the remote users to back up their phones using Blackberry Desktop, and then either have them wipe them or I can do it from the server. Then I will have them activate on the new server.
This seems to work execpt for the sound profiles.

moveing the SQL database wasnt too hard for me to do first time
but for 7 users it might be easier to have them wipe, restore and activate

One more question - can I set the users up with an activation email and password on the v5 server while they are still activated on the v4 server?
Just wondering if it would get screwed up on Blackberry's side to have an activation email sent relating to an email that is already activated on a different server.

the message will be in their mail box so once off old BES ( user removed) it should be fine
