In the next few weeks I will be performing a migration from SBS2003 to SBS2011 for a client. The client has six BB users running off of BES for Microsoft Exchange, Version 4.1.3 (Bundle 37). From memory, when the client originally started using Blackberry devices many years ago, this version of BES came with 1 free user license which has been added to when required. BES Express was released after this, but never migrated to.
I plan to do a standard migration using the Microsoft migration tools and have the SBS 2003 server and SBS 2011 server on the same network in coexistence until the migration is complete.
My plan for moving blackberry users was simply to perform a new install of BES Express on to the new SBS2011 server with a new SRP key and, when ready, add the users, wipe existing devices and reconfigure them.
This was I have the new server as ready as possible before migrating mailboxes and running side by side with the BES server on SBS2003. My thought here was that Blackberry’s will continue to work on the SBS2003 server up until I migrate the mailboxes, and then I can add the users, wipe the devices and reconnect them to the new BES Server on SBS2011, hopefully with minimal issues.
The question I have is this; Will this work? Can I have two BES servers running on two different SBS/Exchange servers during migration on the same network over the same internet connection?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
