Wireless Reconcile not working with E-mail

I just setup my first BB Pro server on a SBS 2003 R2 serverWe have currently only one user on the server as a test before we bring on othersThe calendar/tasks all seems to sync just fine but we cannot get emails deleted on the BB to get deleted in outlook and contacts seem to be questionabile..

The setup is SBS 2003 R2 Exchange ServerBB Pro Software 4.1.4.3.

I have checked to see that in the BB Manager on the server that Wireless Message Reconcile is set to trueAlso checked the reconcile deletes is on one the users handsetHard delete reconcile is also set to True on server properties.

The user is reporting the symtoms shown in next post...

All I see on the server logs is some stuff about:

[40719] (04/23 22:10:35.730):{0x29E8} {trc@chal.com} GetFolderIDFromList No folder ID in list for EntryID
[40599] (04/23 22:10:35.730):{0x29E8} {trc@chal.com} GetNewMovedMessages - Could not find folder entry id in folder list for RefId=-202354225
[40719] (04/23 22:10:35.730):{0x29E8} {trc@chal.com} GetFolderIDFromList No folder ID in list for EntryID
[40599] (04/23 22:10:35.730):{0x29E8} {trc@chal.com} GetNewMovedMessages - Could not find folder entry id in folder list for RefId=-622332066

Which seems to be related to a folder it is not syncingAll I have seleted is "Inbox" and Sent Items.

PLEASE HELPThe user is on my back to get this working and this is my first blackberry expierence :smileyhappy:I'm used to the whole Windows Mobile stuff.

Re: Wireless Reconcile not working with E-mail

------USER REPORT-----

My blackberry synching does not work when I make a change in Outlook address/contact on the office computer as it does not go to the blackberry.

But, when I make a change to a blackberry address/contact on the blackberry, it goes immediately and is changed on the office outlook contact database.

When I delete an email on my outlook desktop, it sometimes deletes from the blackberry but only some of the time and there may be a long delay.

When I delete an email on my blackberry, it gets deleted on the outlook on my office computer in a few seconds.

The good news is that when I make a change to a memo, task or calendar item on either the blackberry or outlook desktop at the office, it gets changed and updated on the other device within a few seconds.

In summary, there appears to be some glitch that is preventing my changes/deletions to my desktop inbox/emails and my desktop contacts database from synching with the blackberryAll the other functions work fine.

Re: Wireless Reconcile not working with E-mail

Ok,

What OS of the server did you install it on? (2003 sp2 etc etc)

What account were you logged in as when you installed it? (administrator etc)

What mail platform are you connecting to (exchange 2003, 2007 etc)

Is the BES and the Mail platform install on the same server?

Re: Wireless Reconcile not working with E-mail

OS is patched up to date SBS 2003 R2.  Under lying OS Windows 2003 SP2

I was logged in as 'vtphilk' I believe which is a domain adminstrator.

SBS 2003 uses Exchange 2003 SP2

BES and Exchange are all on same box.  It's a dual proc xeon with 4GB ram and 7SAS HDs (4 in RAID 10) and (2 in RAID 1) and one spare.

Re: Wireless Reconcile not working with E-mail

Of, If you were logged in as a Domain Administrator during the install, you've installed it incorrectly and are going to have all kinds of problems with reconcile and sync.

You have two options.

Uninstall and re-install correctly under the correct service account  (that you need to create specifically for the bps)

Or switch service account.

Below is some info

Re: Wireless Reconcile not working with E-mail

No sure why but I was not logged in as the BESAdmin when I did the install.  I was a domain admin.  I checked the services under the service manager and that confirmed it since all the servers were run as 'vtphilk' which I think was what I was logged in as.

The blackberry database consistency service was run by "BESAdmin".

So I went thru and made sure the following was all setup for the BES account:

---------------BES Account------

1. Create a new user called BESadmin and ensure you create a mailbox. Ensure this user is ONLY a member of "Domain users"

2. Make BESadmin a local Administrator of the server. This is done in AD via the "Built-in" Administrators group

3. Go to Admin Tools on open "Domain Controller Security Policy" and expand the "Local Policies" and "User Right Assignment". You need to add BESadmin to "Log on Locally" and "log on as Service".

4. Open Exchange System Manager and right mouse click on "DOMIANNAME (Exchange)" and select Delegate Control. Follow the steps and add BESadmin as an Exchange View Only Administrator.

5. In Exchange manager expand the servers folder and right mouse click on your server name and select properties. On the properties windows select BESadmin and add the permissions "Administer Mailbox Store, Receive As, Send As". Then under your server name select "First Storage Group" and right mouse click "Mailbox Store (SERVERNAME)" and select properties, from the security tab ensure the BESadmin permissions have propagated down (e.g. you need to ensure BESadmin is present with "Administer Mailbox Store, Receive As, Send As" rights).

6. Open Active Directory and from the View menu select "Advanced Features". Then go to each user that will be added to the BES and open their properties, go to the security tab and add the user BESadmin and add the security permission "Send As". (This will overcome some MS patches that prevent BES sending emails)

 -------------------------------

Should I re-install or try doing that service stuff?  I only have one user on the system right now.  If I do a reinstall will it be easy to re-associate the device?

Re: Wireless Reconcile not working with E-mail

I went thru all the service account setup and there was a few things missing.  I then resetup the MAPI account and did everything fromt he BESadmin account I had created.  All the services are restarted with the besadmin runas .

I'm not getting any errors in the BES logs now so I'm just waiting for the end-user to verify the emails are getting synced.    So hopefully this fixed the email syncing probs...Thanks mucho!

Re: Wireless Reconcile not working with E-mail

I think it is working.  I see delete messages successfull and no more errors. I actually had a problem were the client could not sendAs but I found the solution for that was to re-apply the sendas since he was a domain admin member.

The only 'error' I am seeing now seems to be this stupid folder thing(See next post):

Any ideas on this?  I saw some other posts but all we are syncing is the inbox/sent items.  So not sure why getting this.
