the NIC of the entire server is using opendns (208.67.220.220/208.67.222.222).
however, the server is also configured as a dns server.
it also hosts the active directory. how would i check if bes is a member of the domain?

I had the same error on a SBS 2003 install. Whoever set it up did not point the server DNS to itself (as it should be). Changed the servers DNS to 127.0.0.1 and the error was resolved. Hurrah.
