This question may have been asked already, but I haven't found a definite answer yet:
Prerequisite: We need to develop a Java based app for OS5+ that uses Urban Airship (UA) for push messages because it's already used for the iPhone app. UA basically takes care of the server-side and stores the device PIN, provides a common interface for several platforms, etc.
Is it possible to develop and test the push client app with the BlackBerry Smartphone Simulator? (and running MDS-CS locally)
If we need to test the app on a device, does the device need to be connected to a BIS infrastructure? (I assume so). That is, it needs to have a SIM card, a mobile BlackBerry data plan, and it's not possible over WiFi, right?

What you need to test in IRL is
- a blackberry
- a sim card with dataplan
to make better test made it on real device already in use. A power user can make working you application differently depend on the constant usage of it.
