Device Registration Problem: Error RC = 10026? What does this mean?

Hi,

I have installed sample push enabled application onto the BB device. I am trying to register the application with push server.

With reference to earlier posted "Device Registration Problems" thread:

Registration is two step:

In 1st step, it is supposed to get some param string which needs to be passed in second step.

However, I am getting the response to first step as : rc=10026 instead of param string.

Can someone help me out to find out the meaning of above?

Re: Device Registration Problem: Error RC = 10026? What does this mean?

I think there might be some confusion here. What are you trying to register with the BlackBerry Push Service or with your server side application? That 10026 error code is returned by the Push SDK if I am not mistaken - it means authorization failed. But the Push SDK by default allows any username and password so something weird is going on.

What hand held app are you using? Are you using the sample app that ships with the SDK? If so, what settings do you have?

Re: Device Registration Problem: Error RC = 10026? What does this mean?

Yes, I am using sample apps (both server and client side).

My server side app is running successfully. Also, my push server is accessible publically. I installed sample push enabled application onto the actual device. As a next step, I am trying to register my app from device with the push server using following URL:

https://10.136.129.135:8443/sample-push-initiator/subscribe?username=ed&password=edg&appid=XXXX-XXXX...

NOTE: I am using BIS as PPG

My client side app settings are:

Port: As Issued by RIM registration process

App ID: As Issued by RIM registration process

BPAS URL: http://pushapi.eval.blackberry.com

Content Provider URL: https://localhost:8443/sample-push-initiator (of course localhost replaced by push server IP address :smileyvery-happy: )

I am not getting whats going wrong?

Re: Device Registration Problem: Error RC = 10026? What does this mean?

reinstall push api sdk and locate in c:\bpss

after move installation directory from c:\program files(x86)\bpss to c:\bpss, application can register subscription successfully..

Re: Device Registration Problem: Error RC = 10026? What does this mean?

[ Edited ]

Hi,

I have the same problem. I'm using a BB with OS 4.5, I installed the Sample Push Initiator in the server and Sample Push enabled app in the device sucessfully. My server is accesible from the outside, but still, I get the error:

Request to register failed. Caused by IOException. Make sure that content provider URL is accesible.

My settings in the client are:

Port: given by BIS registration

App Id: given by BIS registration

BPAS URL: http://pushapi.eval.blackberry.com

Content Provider URL: https://server_ip: port/sample-push-initiator

I don't really understand the solution that you suggest (changing  c:\bpss to c:\program files\bpss )

I'm actually using linux and the sample apps are correctly instaled in the webapps folder of Tomcat.

Thanks in advance,

María
