Re: SocketTimeoutException caught sending message to PPG URL address:

[ Edited ]

Hi Matt,

We are getting TCP OUT OF STATE error.

Our network team says that we are not receiving the response from blackberry server within a specified timeframe. Hence our requests are getting dropped. Following is our network teams response:

Packet coming from Blackberry server back to our ip is not reaching within specified session time due to which we are getting TCP packet out of state error.

What is the ideal session timeout at your end.

What could be the issue?

Annuk

Hi Annuk,

What's the "specified timeframe" you refer to?  How long is it?

Because the response from the BlackBerry PPG servers should be quick.

Re: SocketTimeoutException caught sending message to PPG URL address:

Hi Matt,

The timeout at our end is 20secs. We usually wait for the response to arrive in 20secs. If the time exceeds 20 secs, the packets are dropped.

Re: SocketTimeoutException caught sending message to PPG URL address:

From our testing, the response back is well under the 20 second mark and we have not had reports of this taking long from other developers.  Maybe your network is somehow delaying the response somehow?  It's really hard for me to say without knowing your environment intimately.
