Newton's Rings on screen

[ Edited ]

I am finding this effect (ring rainbow effect) to be common on the screen after swiping the screen with my finger.  Is this a common issue? It is most visible in white backgrounds and is in the smudges on the screen from swiping.

Re: Newton's Rings on screen

Hi legaldeejay,

Does the "Rainbow Effect" appear on the surface of the screen or does it appear under the screen when you press down?

Thanks.

Re: Newton's Rings on screen

Are you pressing down on the screen when you see this effect?

Thanks.

Re: Newton's Rings on screen

Nope, just sliding the finger.   It seems to be occurring due to oil from my finger.   I've read this is just a fact of life with touchscreen devices.

Re: Newton's Rings on screen

Yes, oil on your finger can cause this rainbow effect. I wanted to ensure it wasn't due to other factors before suggesting this :smileyhappy:

Thanks!
