May I inquire what type of account is this? I use ActiveSync and don't see this option, but maybe I'm not looking in the correct location. Or maybe it's because I'm on 10.2.0.1803

It will be available on 10.2.1.xxx, not 10.2.0.xxx

Re: Why I'm giving up my Q10 to go back to the Bold 9900

DSanders,

You said, "GeorgeB, if your device is security password protected, so will be the backup file."

"Password protection" is _not_ encryption of the backup. (The best security is one of the reasons I like BlackBerry).

The BlackBerry Desktop software for BBOS devices _does_ let the user encrypt the BlackBerry backup. Selecting Encrypt at the start of the backup opens two fields for the user to enter the encryption key; if the keys entered in both are identical, the encryption proceeds.

BlackBerry Link software _does_not_ let the user encrypt the OS10 device backup. There is no option for Encrypt.

I asked, in the BlackBerry Link area (about 3 weeks ago) about "Encrypting backup with Link on Mac". The reply from the Link expert was:
"This option is currently unavailable in BlackBerry Link."

Now, with any of this software, one must have the device password to connect to the device. But that doesn't get the backup (on the Mac or PC) encrypted.

BTW, thanks for your and the others' comments on OS10.2.0.xxx  and OS10.2.1.xxx !!! (T-Mobile didn't have 10.2 available yesterday when I checked.)

ummm, were you pressing your 9900 buttons with your nose, or what part of your body?

Yes, on my BBOS 7 device and BB10 devices, I use my finger.

Understood. I never said it was encryption, only passed along what options you do have.
Ever try to open a Link backup which is password protected?

Physical button vs touch screen. Seriously that difficult to understand?

You didn't say that. lol.

I know you're here just to argue and detract for any meaningful conversation.

Buy a pair screen touch sensitive gloves.

Re: Why I'm giving up my Q10 to go back to the Bold 9900

@JSanders you are here to do nothing but defend OS10.  Enjoy your blackberry when the company folds.  I sure hope you don't work for them.

For me when I am not roaming I am going to use my iPhone 5 and when I am traveling I am going to use my BB9900.  Well at least as long as the company does not cancel BIS all together.  If that happens no more Blackberry for my company.

bottom line FOR ME "When Blackberry got rid of BIS they became the same as all the other phones on the market and the other phones have so much better things to offer than Blackberry.  Apps alone leave Blackberry in the stone age."
