By "back-up" do you mean you wish to restrict recovery of contacts only to a BlackBerry device? Should you wish to create a back-up that can be restored on other popular platform (read Android) then sync (to MS Outlook) is your best bet. Else, connect to Link, click on your phone icon (at the bottom of the Link screen) and select "back up".

Using Link, by backing up the device you backup contacts. Your backup is made of three separate modules: Settings, Media and App Data. Your contacts are included in the Settings backup.

If you want a Contacts-only backup, try using the third party app "In Touch Contacts" from BlackBerryWorld. It works great to do what you want. I am using it, in addition to my Link backups.

Re: Q5 Manuals, User Guides and How To links

i didnt know that "Application Data, Media and Settings" included contacts!!!!

many thanks for clearing that up!!! :smileyhappy:

would you also know the solution to this? - i did a one way sync of my phone contacts to my laptop but strangely not all contacts have got copied to my laptop (llaptop had NO contacts at all)...so really it was just copying the contacts from my phone to my laptop (and its not that i have entered that contact on my phone several times as someone suggested). Also, after the sync, though it was a one way sync from phone TO laptop, i find that several contacts on the phone are being repeated...so i have 3 entries for the same contact (which wasnt like that before the sync)...

please let me know your thoughts / solution why

1) some phone numbers / contacts are not getting copied to my laptop

2) why some contacts on the phone appear multiple times

Re: Q5 Manuals, User Guides and How To links

I don't know the answer specifically, there could be a few reasons.

Honestly, the Link sync is still messed up in many ways.

Re: Q5 Manuals, User Guides and How To links

Firstly many thanks, looks like a great manual, and easy to read.

Please can you confirm this, it looks like there is no sync between the BlackBerry calendar and in my case my Gmail account calendar entries. This is even though the phone layout suggests it will. Is this correct?

Secondly, is there a link for a BlackBerry Link manual, since I have over 200 photos on my Q5, and it refuses to sync with Link via my desktop.

Again, many thanks.
