.148 Leak vs. .148 Release (Should I Get The Full Release?)

I already have the .148 leaked OS on my phone.

With today's OTA release of the .148 OS - should I be upgrading to the full Verizon .148 OS release or should I stick with what I have?

Is there a difference? If so, how do I "upgrade"...?

According to the above from Krypto, the answer is no. Those of using the leaked .148 will see no difference.

Re: .148 Leak vs. .148 Release (Should I Get The Full Release?)

There is no difference in the beta release of .148 and the official release of .148.

.148 = .148  :smileywink:

Re: .148 Leak vs. .148 Release (Should I Get The Full Release?)

There may be some apps that are updated as well as the OS as when I did it the official way, it updated ALOT, including the windows tools. In fact

it wouldn't update things until I upgraded the app loader. I ran into my old Vista bug where downloading large files (that are not restartable) over

wifi is a problem, so I had to first plug my laptop directly into ethernet.

But then,  it upgraded OK, and downloaded a hell of a lot of files.

So, my advice is to go to the RIM upgrade site and hit upgrade and with your phone plugged into USB. Note that if you've already got .148 installed, it will not install it again.

This will get all your needed files.

Note also that it requires Internet explorer. So, if, like me, you use Mozilla, make sure you have one of the few add-ons installed that allows it to

simulate Internet Explorer.

Good Luck.

Re: .148 Leak vs. .148 Release (Should I Get The Full Release?)

As said above 148 leak is exactly the same as 148 official

BTW 151 leak is already out for 9500

Re: .148 Leak vs. .148 Release (Should I Get The Full Release?)

I had the leaked .148 for a week. Works just fine. Reading the suggestion to upgrade from RIM site I tried it. What I get in the APP loader is an unchecked upgrade which says 4.7.0.203 for 9530 (current). Should this be added to what I already have?

Re: .148 Leak vs. .148 Release (Should I Get The Full Release?)

All I can say is what I said above. The OS prerelease is the same as the actual release. It's the other stuff that I'm not so sure. 3rd party apps, etc, etc...

Now, the PC tools are important to get updated correctly. Finally, if you just do a check for updates, it should also compare what you have with

whats available. It will not update anything that is the same (so the OS won't get updated if you already have .148 already.....which is the correct behavior).

Good Luck

Odd how this can't be understood by some people.

Re: .148 Leak vs. .148 Release (Should I Get The Full Release?)

Here are my findings:

The full .148 release .exe is about 12K larger than the "leaked" .148 .exe.

 109,581,352 -vs- 109,569,576

Also when I run the full version on my .148 leaked install the Desktop Manager wants to install Blackberry 4.7 Core Applications. (But that is it though)
