Hi and Welcome to the Forums!

Can you expand on that? Exactly where does it show only that?

You should, on a 9530, have the ability to shift network technologies...go to your Connection Manager and select "Mobile Network Options". In the bottom section should be a "Network Technology" selection...change that to 1XEV if you want to force it to CDMA only.

Good luck and let us know!

Re: 9530 shows gsm network only

That is really odd...can you please report exactly all of the fields you see on the Manage Connections screen? You should have:

Data Services

While Roaming

Mobile Network (a reading of your current carrier)

Network Selection Mode

Network Technology

Only when you change Network Technology to GSM/UMTS should you then have the additional field for Network Mode...from what you describe, your BB is not acting like a 9530...it is acting more like a 9500...

Once you change this in red to automatic, you will see other choices on the screen.

Re: 9530 shows gsm network only

hello,

here isthe explanation about JSanders' answer.

when you buy a 9530 device, it is indeed able to do GSM/3G (using the SIM card) or CDMA (not using the SIM card).

with automatic selection, it will enable you to choose CDMA / 3G / 2G / 2G&2G.

with manual selection, it seems that your device was manually configured to grab Vodafone's network, and Vodafone is a GSM carrier, thus not allowing the CDMA option.

you can either stay in manual and choose intentionally your CDMA carrier, or you can let the device find it (using Automatic).

If you only want to use CDMA network, you can remove the SIM card, though it is not mandatory.

Re: 9530 shows gsm network only

I had tried manual and auto. but it still doesnt show up the cdma ... options.

I had purchased through the genuine dealer with the warranty.

It works with any gsm  network, I tried airtel, Idea both are gsm and works well.

Here in India people are importing ( with verizon mark on it)  and Phone works with cdma and gsm as well.

Kindly help me out this because i am using my number since 7 years and i dont want to change the number.
