Re: Apps

A battery pull means:
Without turning off the Blackberry, open the back and remove the battery, wait 10 seconds and put it back in.
That does a hard reboot.

Re: Apps

Any advice concerning mapping/navigation and weather applications while traveling in Europe?  Just wondering about peoples' experiences using specific programs.  Do BB maps or Google maps meet the need or are there other apps better suited for traveling there?  Does WeatherBug do a good job abroad?  Any help appreciated.

Re: Apps

I know weatherbug will do almost anywhere in the world.
They just will not have webcams of any areas outside the US.
I have pulled up info from other countries and have about 5 locations currently saved on my app right now.
But all of those are US, including Honolulu HI, and San Juan Puerto Rico.
If anyone can make a map program of the entire world it is google.
Just as an experiment I pulled up a city in Europe on Google maps and it worked just fine.

Re: Apps

FWIW, Verizon support calls a battery pull a "Soft Reset".  What they call "Hard Reset" puts everything back to defaults.

Hi there!

Sadly, I think you've come across one of the most difficult parts of working with this stuff -- different answers and/or terminology depending on who one talks to (and possibly even "when" one talks to the same person). In many other instances, the Batt-Pull is called a "Hard Reset" and/or "Hard Reboot" and the ability to refresh the device to defaults (aka to factory fresh OS condition) is called "Wipe". There is even some RIM documentation (though I admit that I don't have the links) that uses those terms. Perhaps RIM and VZW have not synchronized their terminology. Regardless, the key on this forum (IMHO) is to be descriptive about one's desires as well as suggested solutions...that way, we can avoid getting caught up in the differing terms.

Cheers!
