BIS/Opera Mini Issue

Hi Guys,

Hoping you can help me. About 2 days ago my Opera Mini just stopped working, everything else works, native browser, bbm, email etc. It's only when I want to use Opera Mini. The blackberry logo will be visible on the screen but as soon as I open Opera Mini and it wants to connect the blackberry bis logo dissapears and won't come back until I close Opera Mini.  It does however work with normal airtime

Really hope you guys can help...

Re: BIS/Opera Mini Issue

What do you mean "It does however work with normal airtime"?

What other are you using?

I'll be honest, from my experience, using the 9530 on Vodacom, since Vodacom can't provide the proper service books for BIS to a 9530 Storm, you're always going to have these issues with applications that use the BIS API's.

Your only solution normally will be to reboot (powered on, remove the battery, replace and reboot) and start up OM again.

Re: BIS/Opera Mini Issue

Hi JSanders,

Thanks for the reply.

What I mean is that when the blackberry logo dissapears it will use my money that I loaded on the phone through my service provider instead of "free" bis service.  It happened out of the blue, been using opera mini for almost a year on this phone.

Tried rebooting, uninstalling opera mini and reinstalling, still the same result.

Re: BIS/Opera Mini Issue

BIS service isn't free. Maybe Vodacom caught up with your account.

Regardless, sounds like they've changed the way they deliver BIS service to 9530s.

Re: BIS/Opera Mini Issue

I think you misunderstood me.  I do pay my bis fee of R59 every month, everything else still works related to bis.

I have a Verizon 9530 storm, I know people have been having issues with them, but mine has been working fine up until a few days ago:-(

Re: BIS/Opera Mini Issue

And then, a few days ago, something must have changed in the way Vodacom delivers data via BIS, and your 9530 does not have the needed service books from Vodacom.
