BIS account migration: moving emails

I'm moving from one email account to another.  How do I move my older messages to my new account so I don't loose them when I delete my old email account from my BB?

One way, you could forward them to your new address.

contact the hotline of your new email account and ask them if they have a way of receiving your other emails.

if you can't, before forwarding them from your old email to your new email, contact the hotline of your old email account and ask them if you can bounce your emails to another address (it's better than a forward).

Xandrex, I do have forwarding setup which is fine for new emails, but doesn't address old emails that are only on my BB.  If I forward them I loose the sender and date information.

Hi. Basically, this is a problem between your two email providers...not per se a BIS/RIM/BB issue. If your email providers cannot provide you a migration path for your old emails, your only recourse would be (as previously suggested) to forward all of your old emails to your new email account...and yes losing all of that original information. BIS will dutifully deal with them as new messages, of course. Sadly, your best bet is contacting your email providers to see if they have any suggestions.

Occam's Razor nearly always applies when troubleshooting technology issues!

That is precisely why I suggest you to contact your old email provider or your IT, and see what are the conditions for you to bounce old emails to your new email address.

the other solution is to find a MUA that can make a macro to forward a mail and tanke the identity of the original poster as well as the original Sent: header. I know that can be done using an Outlook Visual Basic macro.
