Bluetooth problem w/Nissan Altima

Since I updated software on my Storm I have been having Bluetooth problems with my Nissan Altima. When I start the vehicle it recognizes my phone and connects. When I try to place a call, as soon as I hit "send" it disconnects on my car screen but it keeps the call on my phone. However I can't communicate... the call is lost in space somewhere. When I receive a call in my car the radio touch screen won't work and I have to hit the phone button on my Storm and then select "use the handset" on my phone.

I was able to pair another type of phone with my vehicle and it works fine... So it appears the problem is with the new Storm software. I also tried deleting the pairing and then re-establishing it, but to no avail...

I have the Storm 2 and just this week started having the same problem. I would rather not downgrade the software. What did you end up doing??

Re: Bluetooth problem w/Nissan Altima

I have the same problem with my new Kenwood DNX9140 Radio.

Bluetooth worked with 4.7 but when upgraded to 5.0 with same problems (no bluetooth, phone locks up and unable to download contacts).

Tried to downgrade to 4.7 but Blackberry has blocked this feature for some reason.

Waiting for them get back with me with a solution.

Re: Bluetooth problem w/Nissan Altima

There is no way that I know of, nor reason that Blackberry would "block" your ability to downgrade OS.  If for example you are using DTM and have earlier OS packages downloaded on your PC it is a fairly simple process to downgrade OS.  People downgrade all the time for one reason or another.

The good folks at Crackberry in their "Blackberry 101" series of procedurals have a step by step process.  Again, what OS upgrades or downgrades  you perform is outside the "control" of Blackberry (RIM).  They simply provide an OS to your carrier and it is up to you to download and install as you see fit.

I could should I want to take my Storm all the way back multiple OS backwards but it would be a question of "why".

Now as to the problems of your BB being compatible with your vehicle's Bluetooth like any other device or capability, or application you wish to use there is the problem of when the one was developed what version was it optimized for.  If you have a stereo system that came out prior to your BB you might need to see if you can upgrade that device to take advantage of what has surpassed it.

Forward and backwards compatibility is not always a given.

Re: Bluetooth problem w/Nissan Altima

Has anyone figured this problem out?

I upgraded to the new service upgrade a few months ago and never had a problem with my bluetooth in my Altima coupe.  However, this **bleep** I work with started messing with my phone yesterday at work (hitting buttons in an attempt to annoy me) and then said, "Why did it just say 'Connection to MY-CAR terminated'?"

It only says that when I first trun my car off and get out.

Well, since then my phone will not work in my car.  Whenever I try to make a call, it shows the call processing on my car screen for a second, and then my car goes back to playing the radio as if I'm not making a call - meanwhile my phone says I'm making a call, but I have to manually switch the call to handset in order to hear the other person.

I've tried everything.  I deleted my car off my phone, and my phone off my car.  I've repaired them.  I checked on my car to make sure bluetooth is enabled and same for my phone.  I've checked security settings on both devices.

I'm about to pull my hair out!

I hope someone has good news for me.  :smileysad:

Re: Bluetooth problem w/Nissan Altima

In your Storm's Bluetooth, highlight your Altima, click menu (dot button), screen pops up. Click device properties, make sure Trusted: Yes,  Encryption: Disabled, click menu> Save.:smileysurprised:
