Call failed

[ Edited ]

hi everyone,

im having a massive problem with my new storm. everytime i try to make a phone call it just says "call failed" and gives me a 3 tone sound. strangely enough though, this is only happening at work, when i get around 500 yards away on my way home i can make a call. it has done this at home but no where near as often. i have full signal and i cant make a single call! strangely though it connects for about a second then cuts me off. i have just been to phones 4 u who have swapped the phone, so when i got back to work, i gave it a whirl and it still doesnt work! i have tried the sim in a different phone at work and it makes calls so it cannot be this! is there some type of setting i need to disable or something? has anyone else had this problem?

thanks in advance!

sorry i forgot to mention, i can send/recieve text msgs fine, acces the internet and send/recieve e-mails fine! help please!!

Re: Call failed

Try dialing *228 on your device which will re-locate the tower you are connected to.

Re: Call failed

So, let's get some more detail from you.

What carrier, and what is your signal indicator show... 1XEV? (top right of the device, usually).

Do this: With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot.

Give it a couple minutes to settle down all the initial data and processor activity.

Try a call again.

If it still fails, then from the home screen, press the green dial key once to enter the call log.

Press Menu > Options > Smart Dialing. What are the settings you have there? Please type them back.

Re: Call failed

My network's Vodafone (served me fairly well over the years). The signal has 4 bars, and the 3G and BB network signs are there.

Rebooted the phone but the calls still fail.

The smart dialing settings are as follows:

Country code: +44

Area code: (blank)

National number length: 10

Office ext...call number: (blank)

Wait for: 3 seconds

Extension length: unknown

...other corporations...Wait for: 3 seconds

Thanks for your patience!
