Facebook check in ... nearby places, etc., doesn't work.

It has in the past, but with recent FB update, no longer.

I've checked everything on the phone, and FB - everything seems right.

Any ideas?

On all model BlackBerrys, first make certain that you in an area of good signal coverage AND outside with a clear view of the sky in an open area of no tall buildings.

On your CDMA xx30 or xx50 model BlackBerry, do this:
Go to the Options icon > Status
From the Status screen, on the keyboard type "test" (without the quote marks!).
You will see a Device Self Test Screen. Click the Menu Key and choose Start. You will a list of tests. The bottom test should be GPS, check it and click Menu > Run. Be sure GPS location is turned on. Go outside with no obstructions or tall buildings around or above you. click the trackball and click start fixing. is should do a test. let it do its thing and it should tell you a location coordinates.

Thanks ... I've done the GPS fix ...

Everything works ... and even before the GPS fix, my maps, VZnavigator, etc, were all working.

But not the Facebook app ... wondering if I should delete FB and the reinstall?

Deleted Facebook, reinstalled ... places now working.

Hi JS, I'm having the same problem with the "check in" feature as the person who started this thread. I've gone through all the steps you outlined and the problem is still there. I've deleted and reinstalled numerous times from app world and from facebook through the browser. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hey you've also performed a GPS refresh or fix on the device?

What happens, does it show any satellites or Lat-Long position?

Yes, the test was successful and my maps, point and foursquare are all working fine as well.

Ok, cool.

So, when you go to Facebook and check-in, what happens?

It goes to the "Acquiring your location" screen and that's it. It doesn't even time out. I've let it go for more than 5 minutes and it just stays on that screen until I back out of the app.
