You can choose a song from your media folder, and from there tell it to use it as your ringtone.  Once you choose the song, press the menu key to assign it as your ringtone.  You may want to crop the song to get the best part of ot.

Re: How Do I....

Also, the ringtones are located in your media folder.  They should all be listed...

Re: How Do I....

Hi and welcome to the forums!

IF you are using the BB go to media center, menu key, explore.

Then search the device memory or the media card.

Via PC using the USB cable use My Computer to search either device memory or media card as flash drives.

Make sure that MTP is set to on. See attached link.

Thanks

Re: How Do I....

Hi,

I would suggest literally searching every directory given the methods listed above.

It's there, it can't play if the files not on the device.

Thanks,

Maybe it's listed under the Unknown folder.

Media Player

------------ Music

------------------ Artists

-------------------------- Unknown

----------------------------------- Unknown

Look under this place and see if they are there.  I have quite a few songs that get placed there because the lack of tags on the mp3.

Good luck!

Jamie

Re: How Do I....

Sorry to piggyback but I am having the same issue.  I don't think the problem is finding the music file in the music folder the problem is copying the music file over to ringtones.  That way you can customize that ringtone/mp3 for caller ID's and such.  Thanks in advance.

Well, unless I misunderstood the original poster, he has a ringtone set, but can't find out where it's stored on his device.

To help you though, you don't have to copy the file over to the ringtone folder.  You can set the ringtone from any folder.

If you're changing your ringtone for everyone, then follow this step.  If the tone isn't in the ringtone folder, then you will have to use the browse (at the top of the ringtone list) and find the song you're looking for, but you don't need to move it to the ringtone folder.

If you're looking to set a ringtone per contact, then go to the second step, but the process is the same.

Change your ring tone

 1. In the sounds application, click Set Ring Tones/Alerts.
 2. Click the application or item that you want to change.
 3. Perform one of the following actions:
    • To use a preloaded ring tone, in the Ringtone field, click a ring tone.
    • To use a ring tone that you downloaded, in the Ringtone field, click Browse. Navigate to a folder that contains ring tones. Click
    a ring tone.
 4. Press the Menu key.
 5. Click Save.

Assign ring tones and notifications to a contact

You can receive different notifications for incoming messages and calls from specific contacts or groups of contacts. Call and message notifications for your contacts are received even if you switch your sound profile to Silent or Vibrate Only.
  1. In the sounds application, click Set Contact Alerts.
  2. Click Add Contact Alert.
  3. Press the Menu key.
  4. Click Add Name.
  5. Click a contact.
  6. To add additional contacts, repeat steps 3 to 5.
  7. Click the application or item that you want to change.
  8. Change the notification information.
  9. Press the Menu key.
  10. Click Save.

Good luck!

Jamie
