How do get music on the STORM?

I've loaded the media manager that came on the cd but when I try to upload some music on the device, its a no go. There doesn't seem to be any option to just drag and drop the music files or even how to upload them via the manager?

Anyone managed to do it so far?

Re: How do get music on the STORM?

Hi and welcome to the forums!

Moving files using the media manager is on page 77 of the manual, in the link below.

BEFORE using either make sure these options are set.

First go to OPTIONS/MEDIA CARD/make sure that

MASS STORAGE mode is enabled, and that AUTO ENABLE mass storage mode when connected is enabled.

Make sure that CONTENT PROTECTION is disabled.

You can also move files by plugging the device into the PC via the USB. Then open MY Computer, and the media card in the device will appear as a flash drive.

You can "drag and drop" files to the right folders. I prefer it, it's quick, easy, efficient. (and old school) :smileywink:

Re: How do get music on the STORM?

I am trying to put my itunes on my storm and it's only allowing 4 songs.  It's telling me everything else is protected?  How do I get all my itunes on my storm?  I did the things mentioned above.

Thanks.

Re: How do get music on the STORM?

I'm having the same issue and I waited for the storm just so I can use my iTunes on my phone without a problem.   If I can't access my itunes, then I'm not sure i want to keep the phone - not enough additional features that the other BBerry's don't have for me to keep it otherwise.

I am STILL unable to load my iTunes music onto my Storm.   In fact, now I'm getting an error message with I click on VCast Music.   It says "uncaught exception:  java.lang.IllegalArgumentException.    what the heck is THIS???

Re: How do get music on the STORM?

Songs that were purchased on iTunes will not transfer because of DRM protection.  You would need to burn CD's of those songs and then load them back into iTunes for upload to the Storm.

Re: How do get music on the STORM?

If your are using Vista, then go to BB dot com and download and install

Media Sync SEPERATELY from the Desktop Manager.  This will permit

you to load your Storm with your iPOD and other music directly.

How to transfer media to the Storm,

The Storm is designed as a portable device, meaning it can no longer be brought into Windows OR the MAC

and have the media card be accessible like a removable drive for drag and drop file manipulations.

Only when the media card is removed from the Storm and inserted to a card reader can the be directly accessed.

Utilizing the most recent technology the device control the exchange of data via MTP. The media transport control

screen in the Storm gives access to the auto enable and mass storage options needed for ordered transfer. Of data

between the device and PC.

Blackberry Media sync has been dated for use with the newer model Storm and Bold line, ad can be run on Windows

64 bit systems. The interface is redesigned to the user can instantly see the amounts transferable music.

DRM protected music can now be supported on the Storm, provided it is downloaded over wireless connections from the carriers site.

The BlackBerry Storm smartphone can play DRM protected music when the music is downloaded or purchased from a wireless service provider. Blackberry smartphone users can download music in one of the following ways:

  • Over the wireless network onto the BlackBerry smartphone
  • Using a desktop computer (In this case, music is transferred to the BlackBerry smartphone through the wireless service provider's music store application.)

Media sync downloaded here can be run on all Windows base machines via the USB connection;

There is a known issue with Media sync and device recognition which is being addressed

Connectivity via Bluetooth:

As of today the BT connectivity to the  Pocketmac is not available, however session connection with the Storm are:

Connecting the PC to the storm via the BT connections:
