How to export password keeper data?

I would like to have a hard copy of my passwords that are being kept in my password keeper program.   Can this data be exported or is there a desktop application that will read this data?

Thx!

Re: How to export password keeper data?

Hey Daddymac,

You can do a selective backup of the of your password keeper database:

 http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB12487

The .IPD Backup file content can not be viewed on the PC and can only be viewed when restored back to the device.

@sessaws
currently the Mac offers a limited experience for BlackBerry devices.

No dear hatchback, all PC/MAC/Linux users can export and/or view all backup data(incl. Password Keeper) with a special software like Blackberry Backup Explorer. If you "forget" the password, you can use Password Breaker for restore it.

You can easily open this using the simple steps that I followed as outlined below:

Change the extention of this file from .bbb to .zip

Uncompress and open the subsequently unzipped folder

Inside the folder, open the sub-folder named "Databases"

There will most probably be only one file named "Databases.ipd", right-click on it, and click on Open With, and choose Microsoft Excel

It will open as an excel file, it will not be in the perfect form to understand, but ALL the information of your blackberry from contacts to smses to bookmarks everything will be available in this single file. It is easy to go through once you look into the individual cells and use the Ctrl+F (or Command+F) function within Excel.

Password keeper entries are not easily accessible (or at least I have not been able to find mine in my .ipd file). If you are able to locate yours do let me know and I will look into mine as well, lol).

Re: How to export password keeper data?

I followed all the steps and am looking at the contents of the data file in Excel. The only problem is I can't read a word of it. Here is just a small sample of what I see:

Inter@ctive Pager Backup/Restore File

PasswordKeeperìÂò »ø4ï+’¨Æ+’ÏÖ¶\bi/‰YJ©‚0ÍÍ2L åŠòè{Z7"#\`ìÕõe2:±

í¹4jóº;û£ É}å{Š`Ya„cç:¶RNÆvíÁÌ©<ó5ÅAk+{g0MoܨFç-

x ²ÌT‘TÇÇdãèÎÉ*ÉamhůôÞU@€Œyw~a

And it goes on like that for over 300 lines. How do I translate this data into readable text? My device is a BlackBerry Bold 9700.

Re: How to export password keeper data?

the data is of course encrypted using your Password keeper password.

As far as I know, the back-up file is not supposed to be read by a human being. It is supposed to be restored to a BlackBerry phone (either the same, or another one).

Thanks for your quick response. Is there a way then to get this data to my Android phone (Galaxy S III)? Whatever method is available I'm game, be it manually, via software or handing it over to a third party.

Re: How to export password keeper data?

1 restore the password keeeper database to a BlackBerry
2 open the password keeper
3 for each entry, open it and view the password
4 input the password manually on your Android phone.
