Hi all, first post .
I have recently recieved a blackberry storm as a contract upgrade. Very happy with it so far. But there is one problem i have found.
I currently set my ringtone to Madina Lake - Here I Stand. However, when someone rings me, it only just gets to the singing bit, is there a way to increase the length my storm rings for, so i can hear more of the song?
Thanks,
James

Hi!
Good find! Here's the FAQ about it as well:

ount_of_rings_before_voicemail
BTW -- you might want to edit your post and make sure that no personal information is in that dialing string you quoted...
For other carriers (e.g., VZW in the USA), you need to call them for assistance as they control it in their system.

Ah -- OK good...as long as that's not your own mobile phone number or anything, then you are probably all OK. No worries about the FAQ either -- we all have the hints and tricks that we have, and this community forum is all about sharing those with everyone else...so good job! And thanks!

Hi. I'm still trying to learn my way around these forums, etc. But finally found the subject of my current question, but not the answer I need. I have a Storm with Verizon as carrier. In past two days I've suddenly started having calls go to voice mail after just one brief ring. Can't catch the calls.
Tried finding some kind of setting, options, etc to make a change. No luck.
Tried manuals (such as they are, online), no luck.
Then finally got into the phone board of forum (w/some 10k threads, I think... pretty daunting) and found this thread; but no answer for me yet. I've tried pulling the battery, but not sure if that's the issue... esp since I just learned that we're to keep it out for about a minute to make it reboot. (I was just doing approx. 10 seconds before.)
Anyway, is there some other way I can get it to go back to the regular number of rings? Any idea why it changed?
Thanks

Hi there!
If you scroll up to my first post in this thread, you will see that for VZW you have no direct control...you must contact them.

Thanks. I just found your response by "accident" as I'm still working on trying to learn how to use this forum.
So, I went to your June posting about this, but it seems to be for another type of phone, not my Storm.
And, the change from approx. 4 rings before VM to a half ring was a change from how it's always been before. So I don't think it's Verizon's fault. AND, some calls ring through normally; while others do the short ring. When it first happened the other day, I thought it was maybe something to do with toll calls; but then it happened for a local call also.
Puzzling.

Actually, no...since this is the Storm forum, all responses (and indeed questions) should be targeted to that specific device. There are other forums for other devices.
Since you now say that some ring the proper length and others do not...can you clarify your coverage status at the times it does not? (in other words, how many bars do you have at that point and if you have 1XEV in all caps or something else.) Also, are you pressing any buttons, keys, or the screen when the call quickly diverts?
Also, do this:
Dial *228 and select Option 1. Dial it again and select Option 2. Do Option 2 once per month.
It is completely possible that, at the moment you receive these calls that don't seem to ring for the full time, that you are in a poor coverage area and the VZW network is sensing that you've dropped off, and therby diverts the call right away....
