Memory Card not Seen on Desktop Computer

[ Edited ]

When I hook my BB Storm up to my computer, the BB shows up but not the memory card. Both used to show up before I upgraded to v. 5 of the software. I have even checked Disk Management. I have also removed and reinstalled the memory card in case that was the problem.

Is there a way to get the card to show up as another drive? I desperately need to transfer files from my desktop computer to my blackerry.

Re: Memory Card not Seen on Desktop Computer

Go to Options -> Memory -> Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected: Yes

Re: Memory Card not Seen on Desktop Computer

I did as you said:

Go to Options -> Memory -> Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected: Yes

but it was already set to: YES

I did note that there is a message at the bottom of the screen:

"Device Memory and Media Card are not available because

Mass Storage Mode is currently in use."

Please advise.

Re: Memory Card not Seen on Desktop Computer

I found the solution!

I turned both off:

Auto Enable Mass Sotrage Mode when Connected

Mass Sorage Mode Support

And then turned them both back on again.

That worked.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

Re: Memory Card not Seen on Desktop Computer

[ Edited ]

Well, maybe that wasn't the solution afterall. Today I cannot get the Desktop to see my BB Storm memory card again!

I tried:

turned both off:

Auto Enable Mass Sotrage Mode when Connected

Mass Sorage Mode Support

Save

And then turned them both back on again.

Save

When I connect the BB Storm to my XP PC, the memory card is not seen!

When I go to Memory

There is a notice:

Device Memory and Media Card are not available because the Mass Storage is currently in use.

Help please!

Re: Memory Card not Seen on Desktop Computer

You cannot on the DEVICE see the memory or access the memory as long as you are connected to your PC.

I often connect to my XP Pro SP3 PC to transfer music and geocache files to my Media card.  I on occasion forget that I am still connected to the PC and get frustrated when I attempt to look at the files to see if they are transfered.

All it takes is a simple pulling of the plug....

Again, so long as you are hardwire connected to your computer your device and media card  memory is not accessible...

Re: Memory Card not Seen on Desktop Computer

Yes, I realize that while the Blackberry is plugged into the USB port of the computer the memory card becomes unavailable to the Blackberry.

In looking at the problem now, I see that the while connected, my PC Desktop is seeing only the Memory Card and not the Blackberry itself. So I believe I will start another thread with this problem.

Re: Memory Card not Seen on Desktop Computer

That on occasion happens when I connect to the PC and all that I have to do is unplug and re-connect.  The second "drive" at least for me always then shows up.

It is something that I also have an alternate for as I have a multi-card reader and I  will sometimes opt to pull the card and put it in the reader, but like I said above, if I initially only have the one "drive" showing on the PC the unplug/re-connect has always worked.

Re: Memory Card not Seen on Desktop Computer

I concur with FA1SGL - every week I backup my Storm via Desktop Manager and I have to disconnect and re-connect my USB cable to see both drives.
