Hi guys My name is andres, i'm pretty new with Blackberry, I bought a Used unlocked (from Verizon) Storm 9530 on Ebay.
Last friday I put my sim card on in and it run Ok, but when my carrier (Telefonica) tried to set up a Blackberry account they told me that the PIn is still locked. I called Verizon and they told me it is unlocked and that PIN is not attached to any account but ,y provider still says is locked by Blackberry.
What can I make to unlocked it in order to start using it the way it is?
Thanks
Andres

I found this on another site : Hope it is helpful. I am sure there are others that will be able to help you better.
RIM has PIN lock on if the PIN is already registered with another carrier. That needs to be de-registered by the original carrier. Find out where this BlackBerry was originally used on, and call the original carrier to get it removed from their system. This may require involvement from the original seller.
PIN lock can even be a problem within the same carrier -- when transferring the BlackBerry to another subscriber.

Hi cathlabnurse thanks for your answer nevertheless, I already contacted the original owner, he told me he is using now another BB with that line, I also called Verizon (the original carrier) and they told me the PIN is not anymore registered for that line.
Something is wrong in BB system. But I don't find where to write or call to fix it.

Hi there!
Wow...this will be difficult. Your carrier can hopefully escalate this for you so as to find out where it is presently locked. You must go through them for that purpose if you want to have free support. They can escalate into RIM for you at no charge...if you want to bypass and go to RIM, that comes with fees. The Support and Services tab on this site has information about that.
But, honestly, if your current carrier says it's locked and VZW says they don't have it locked, then some other carrier may have it locked. For what reason we can only guess. But I suggest contacting your carrier again and see if they will escalate for you to find out where and why it is locked. And work with them to get it resolved. Hopefully they will be willing to help.
FYI -- all of this is theft and fraud prevention stuff. There are a lot of stolen devices in the world, and this is what the carriers choose to do in order to prevent fraudulent use of a stolen BB. They tend to err on the side of extreme conservancy IMO, but they are in control. So contact them again and firmly (but nicely) try to get them to escalate. That is the only way to get this resolved.
FWIW -- if you cannot get it resolved, you will not be the first person to be the victim in this situation...it's happened many times before.
Best.

Hi sdgardne
Thanks for your answer, i'm really pissed off with this, Verizon the old carrier says the smarthphone is free and my carrier says they can not do anything as they did not sell the phone so they dont bring any technical support.
I did not find any telephone number of Blackberry technical support in order to speak with a person and avoid spending hours searching on a ^*&^* technical support webpage.
At this moment I'm willing to forget about BB services and use the storm as aa paper holder, what a mess that is try to get in contact with them.

Well, front line support for BB's is, by contract, not provided by RIM. The carriers and authorized resellers are responsible for front line formal support to end users. I suspect this is why you have had difficulty finding a way to get support direct from RIM. Again, it is possible to bypass your carrier and seek assistance direct from RIM, but such involves fees since you are bypassing your (in your case, non-existent) support agreement with your carrier. The "Support and Services" tab toward the top of these forum pages provide information about that. But, if you do go through your carrier for support, they can escalate into RIM at no fee to you if they so choose to.
But, as is the case so often with 2nd hand BB's, the carriers have made it very hard to get support. Again, I believe it is their desire to prevent fraud that causes them to impose such strict things. But, the carriers truly are in control...and they are simply not helping you. Again, if you try again and find someone very nice (perhaps tell a sald story or something), they may be willing to help you. But they are correct in that formal support is unavailable to you given that the device is 2nd hand...
Sorry..
