OS 5.0.0.1015 Longer Texts

One of the features listed was the ability to send longer text messages (more than 160 characters). I'm still not able to do so. Is there a trick to get it working?

Please use plain text.

Where did you read that as a listed feature?

The 160 SMS characters per SMS is a limitation by Verizon, not the software installed on the device nor is it a device limitation. I've been over this many many times. For example, for a year, I used a Verizon Storm on AT&T -- with no 160 character limitation.

But, I'd be curious where you saw this listed.

ah, I read that before, and it doesn't apply to you on the Verizon network.

  • Enter more than 160 characters in a text message when connected to a GSM/UMTS network.

The Verizon network is CDMA, not GSM/UMTS. That feature above would only apply when your traveling out of the US, and say, roaming on an GSM network.

Or unlocking the Storm and using it on ATT.

But again, it doesn't matter... it's a Verizon limitation. You really should be talking to Big Red about this.
