Hello Forum,
Is there a risk to upgrading the Storm OS with another carrier's package? Are there carrier specific components that will impact operation on my home network?
I am very interested in the new .148 version and the promises for minor bug fixes from my current .122 version but I do not want to upgrade at the risk of "upsetting the apple cart" so to speak ... My service is thru Telecommunications Services of Trinidad & Tobago, they are not real quick with much of anything ... It takes months for them to fix a landline so I can only assume that it will be quite some time before they roll any version upgrades for the Storm (especially since the device has only been in country for a month).
So with that said, any input??
Thanks in advance,
William

The only problem you might have is IF you were to need warranty support from your carrier while you have the .148 release on your device, and if your carrier has not released it themselves. At that point, all you would need to do is downgrade back to their recognized release.
Otherwise, there's no issue doing so. I have rarely run my own carrier's OS release on any BlackBerry for the past three years.
I would encourage you to read the points 1, 2, and 3 at this link for details on your overall questions:

I have shifted carriers sw too migrated from Voda, India[0.78] to Voda, UK [0.141] device software only issue that I face now is accessing the net. I have anunlocked phone - unlocked by the carrier.
Don't have a BIS or BES plan but was able to access Weather, GPS[google maps], surf using Opera Mini et all but now unable to do so after an upgrade. Tried downgrading after a wipe but still not working.
Have got valid APN from Airtel, India site.
