Hi

I don't know who to contact, I'm living in Belgium and BB Storm is still not on the market here. I just got a BB Storm in Germany from Vodafone, but I don't have the browzer option on my phone...My operator, BASE, tells me I cannot surf on the internet because this is a pre-installed product ny Vodafone and that I have to install a normal software on my phone, free of provider, and that only Blackberry/RIM itself could do this....

if I were you, here is what I would do.

hare your service books resent.
There is a vodafone browser, but the normal "BlackBerry Browser" has no reason to not appear. Of course, you do need a "BlackBerry Data Plan" from your BASE operator.

Re: Official Verizon BlackBerry Storm Device Software Upgrade

Thanks for your reaction :smileyhappy:

Another problem is that I don't even have the vodafone browzer...and Base tells me I can't do anything with their BB data plan as long as my BB has the vodafone software in it... do you know where I can reboot my BB and install it from scratch with the BB software free of providers?

Thanks once again =)

Sincerely yours,

T.

Re: Official Verizon BlackBerry Storm Device Software Upgrade

there is no official OS free of provider.
you can try and install the OS from Vodafone UK,
or the OS from SFR (it's Vodafone in France).

you will need to locate the vendor.xml file on your PC and delete it prior to doing the installation.

Re: Official Verizon BlackBerry Storm Device Software Upgrade

ok... the question now is : how do I do that :-p ?

One finding : when I go on the menu and click on the Menu key - if I choose 'Switch Application', I can see the Browser icon application...which is fantastic already...now how do I get it on the normal menu?

This BB is getting more complicated than I thought it would :smileyfrustrated: ...

anyway, thanks for helping me !

Re: Official Verizon BlackBerry Storm Device Software Upgrade

Has anyone heard any new rumors on when the next official upgrade is going to be since March 29th has come and gone and still no official Verizon release.

I'd suggest having a look at the following thread...

Cheers!

I bought my Storm from Vodafone Germany as well but I have the browser. Browser has nothing to do with the network provider. You should have it somewhere in the phone. Check it carrefulluy

Re: Official Verizon BlackBerry Storm Device Software Upgrade

I gave up on vzw getting an official os - I followed the instructions here http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=9500&message.id=22936&query.id=53554#... and had no problems installing beta 113.  I have previously installed beta os's using other instructions - and it was a real pain.  These instructions were so easy!

Now the video camera works!  Even plays back its own videos!

Thanks Jeff for the instructions.
