My "Options" item in the menu on the main screen stopped working. This is the context sensitive menu that comes up when you press the BB key. It allows you to change the background screen and reorganize the rows and columns of the icons. It works once after I reboot by taking the battery out. I can set the background (once) and the icon configuration (once). It works in other apps like mail and the browser. On the main screen you can press it, but it does not do anything.
Any info would be appreciated.

You are under BES or BIS?, my question is for this reason.
If you are under BES, check with the IT guys, if they do not lock the Options on the device.

I am just an individual user -- no IT corporate infrastructure. Do you really think this is a hardware problem? I have had no other problems after the OS upgrade. I don't know exactly when this started happening, however.

This is a bug. I spent some time with Verizon and Blackberry on this. I suspect it was introduced when the OS patch was released.
The Blackberry tech support is excellent. I suggest if you encounter some real issues, give them a call.

How did you get a hold of blackberry support , Is there a number. I get no where on the site I would prefer to talk to a live person. my options menu on the home screen just quit. I press it and i get the second screen. I have never had so much trouble with a phone before. I am afraid to turn it off every time I do something else goes wrong.

I'm having the exact same issue (Options menu only works once after rebooting), along with not being able to find BlackBerry Messenger even though it's listed on Options>Advanced Options>Applications.
I called the number and I'm neither a Subscriber nor a partner and I didn't feel like paying for support (option 3), are these my only options?

Try calling Verizon. They have been transferring me to Blackberry support. I did not have trouble with that number a few weeks back, but perhaps they changed the options. Blackberry needs to know about these issues, so please followup. BTW, my options started working again. Frankly at this point, I have had very few problems with the phone, so I have not contacted anyone recently.
If you get on a call with the Blackberry support folks, please take advantage of the situation and carefully explain to them some of the important issues you think need to be addressed. Don't make it a bitch session. When I did this, I could tell the individual was taking notes. This is the best way we can get this software improved. It is clear the support folks have access to the development people. Being in software development for quite a while I can tell you this is as good as it gets as far as feedback.
