Xandrex's review...

I have just installed it on my device.

Here is the extended list of what I can add to the QuickLaunch menu :

Standard applications :

  • Add Camera
  • Add Video Camera
  • Add Call Log Erase
  • Add Calculator
  • Add Device Info
  • Add Bluetooth Config
  • Add BB Options
  • Add Calendar
  • Add BB Maps
  • Add Contacts
  • Add Event Log

Hot links :

  • Add Url (any URl, but can't choose options like a bookmark)
  • Add Phone Call (can type one phone number or choose from the Contacts List)
  • Add Email (can type one email address or choose from the Contacts List)
  • Add SMS (can type one mobile phone number, of choose one from the contacts List)
  • Add File (Image, Audio, Video etc)

Applications that can be selected :

  • net_rim_bb_qm_google ----> (Maybe GoogleTalk) causes "Uncaught Exception: DSC: Duplicate Sync Collection"
  • net_rim_bb_messagin_app (Messages app)
  • net_rim_phone_app (Phone app)
  • TalkLock (it shouldn't appear since it's a daemon and not a true app, I didn't try adding it and clicking on it though)
  • net_rim_qm_peer (Blackberry Messenger)

Other applications I have installed and that can't be selected :
  • open keyboard (standard)
  • VLingo
  • Opera Mini (4.2 for J2ME devices)
  • TyperSpeed
  • BerryStore (beta)
  • YouTube
  • Google Maps
  • Google Mail
  • BOLT (beta)
  • Memory Cleaner
  • BrickBreaker
  • Word Mole
  • Tiltris

Pros :

  • it's a fine application for usual applications & speed dial
  • you can assign it to a side convenience key
  • you can change the order of the items in the list
  • cheap

Cons : all applications installed on device cannot be chosen.

Final thoughts :

  • I would have preferred to be able to open both VLingo and the keyboard. Because of both, I can't use the application until I'm used to manipulate the Storm differently.
  • I hope there will be upgrades that I will be able to download without paying a second time.

ah hah, youve got the bolt browser huh?  how do you like it?

Re: Quick Launch application for Storm

QuickLaunch has been updated to version 1.2 with some great new features:

the ability to access various file types such as Word documents and PDFs, launching the browser, menu line separators which help the over all visual appeal of the QuickLaunch menu, along with accessing profiles and email groups.

Upgrade was successful, but it required a battery pull. I'l post my review of this new version soon.

Hi Xandrex,

I found that in some cases, Google maps for instance, If you start the app first, then start the Quick launch,

you can add Google maps!

It may be that unless the module is in play, it won't add it?

Try it!!

I owed you one tip back for the one you gave me on Quick Launch!

Smiley Very Happy

Yes I can make a screen shot if you don't trust me!

Bifocals!

OK, here's the proof, I couldn't add Poynt until I started the app first either.

  • com_tbilisoft_reminder

Other applications I have installed and that can't be selected :
  • open keyboard (standard)
  • VLingo

Pros :

  • it's a fine application for usual applications & speed dial

  • you can backup the items list and restore it after next upgrade.
  • cheap
  • update is free until 2.0 is out

Cons :   all  some applications installed on device cannot be chosen.

Final thoughts :

  • I would have preferred to be able to open both VLingo and the keyboard. Because of both, I can't use the application until I'm used to manipulate the Storm differently.
  • I would like to know which themes can display large fonts, because QuickLaunch is compatible.
