I have been awaiting a software version on the 5.0 OS that will allow me to upgrade smoothly, till now I'm still running software version 4.7. The following are some issues I encounter whenever I upgrade my Blackberry Storm 9530 to the 5.0 OS:
(1) Screen doesn't rotate at all
(2) Battery dies really quickly; I'll have to charge it literally every two hours, i.e. if i don't use any applications or bbm, etc.
Someone, anyone, please give me a solution. Because while i'm on the 4.7V now, i'm experiencing "device error 348" and my phone restarts at an average 3 time daily.
I'll really appreciate some assistance. Thanks in advance.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
There are many different 5.0 versions out there, some with different problems than others. Please provide all 4 octets of the version number so that folks can tell what version you are having difficulties with.

I've been experiencing this problem with all versions on the 5.0 OS. I can't remember the exact description/names, but i've upgraded to ALL official versions using my desktop software and I am experiencing the same problems. I am hoping that maybe there will be a version on the 6.0 that will work well with my blackberry storm.
Thanks for the response.

The 9530 will never get 6.0. There is no way for us to guess your OS levels...if you installed them, you should have the OS packages to see the OS level (it normally is part of the filename).
But...have you tried this...install the OS package and nothing else. Absolutely nothing else. Nada. Have a clean OS on the BB and see if the problem still presents. If not, then some add-on is the culprit and not the base OS. I recommend this procedure for installing an OS package to a BB:
While written for reload, it can be used to install (upgrade, downgrade, reload) any OS to the BB...it all depends on the package that is downloaded and installed to the PC. It also can be used to install OS's from other carriers by simply inserting, between steps 1 and 2, the deletion, on your PC, of a file named VENDOR.XML.
Also note that there is an official 184.108.40.2065 available. Again, since you can't say the specific versions you've tried, there's no way to know if you already know about this version. From your description, I actually do not suspect the OS but rather something else added onto your BB...hence the totally clean OS-only attempt I recommend above.

Hi! I went to the website you mentioned to see the new Storm OS because I couldn't update from the Desktop Manager - said I had the current OS, which displays as 220.127.116.118. That website says "Software Download for AIS Thailand." I'm in the US. Should I really download this? Thanks!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
I cannot tell you what you should and should not do. If you follow the procedure above, you can use any OS package from any carrier as long as it is for your specific BB model number.
