Removing the Verizon S/W

I acquired a Storm from my grandson that was from Verizon. I would like to use it on Consumer Cellular- Is there a way to eliminate the Verizon S/W that prevents other carriers from using this phone??

Re: Removing the Verizon S/W

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

There is nothing to remove...there is no "software" that controls this. Rather, all BB's come from the factory locked to their original carrier, and must be unlocked in order to be used on another carrier. See this for information:

Note that, no matter what you do, the initial "splash screen" will forever be VZW...that can never be removed, but if your BB is unlocked, it can be used on other carriers.

Good luck!
