Resetting!

My storm keeps resetting! I have updated the software to the newest version, and it still keeps on doing it. Some times after it resets the homescreen image comes up offset I then have to go into options again and fix it. This is my second phone and both have had the same issue. Man this is really annoying I like the phone, but its getting to the point where I think I might have to return it. Anyone know any fixes?

Re: Resetting!

It may be toast...  I think you are just one of the lucky ones.

Visit this website.  There are steps to try to start over.  You may need to just wipe everything and try starting over with the .72 load.  Something sounds corrupt.  If that doesn't work you can always get a replacement.

Hope it helps.

Re: Resetting!

Before the wipe, made a full backup through Blackberry Desktop Manager.

Re: Resetting!

Its not nuked because it stays on for hours then decides to just reset. I have already swaped out the phone twice as well. could it be an app I downloaded like espn, myspace, or facebook? I only have those three and they are from blackberry's website.

Re: Resetting!

Mine does that once in a while when I switch from SMS to BBMessenger.  I get the white screen and then nothing else.  I'm waiting for the next update.  I am pretty sure it is an application overload.  May be the processor dump.

Re: Resetting!

My first one did that after the screen went into battery saver mode every time.  It would take 4 minutes to boot back up and I would miss calls, e-mails, etc.  Got my replacement Storm on Tuesday and it works fine.  I am loving it now and starting to get used to Sure Press.  Call tech support and get a replacement.  First phone made in Canada, new one in Mexico.  I notice the new one's screen is not as bright, but I am still satisfied.

[ Edited ]

My Storm has been resetting, too, apparently several times a day. My event log led me to believe it was receiving an OTA update (I blogged about it here: http://newbbie.com/2008/12/21/is-verizon-wireless-pushing-ota-updates-for-the-blackberry-storm/). But now, I'm more inclined it's rebooting in an attempt to recover from some error.

I didn't notice it happen before I upgraded to OS version 4.7.0.75, but I can't be absolutely certain.

If it is related to a 3rd-party app that I downloaded, possibilities include Google Maps and Google Sync. I guess I could try deleting them and see if the resetting/rebooting stops happening. If I do and discover anything useful, I'll try to remember and return here to document it. If interested, email me at[removed personal info]. Or leave a comment on the blog article mentioned above.

Re: Resetting!

Ditto just the same problem as you, its my 3rd storm and I am getting really terribly upset about this. Its time consuming and really making me quite faithless in the storm. Hope you got it sorted.

Hi there!

This is a known (and random, for the most part) issue. Reports from beta-land are that the leaked updates have improved this (and many other things) greatly. We all wait anxiously for the next formal release -- though we know not when that shall be.
