Screentouch failing

Some parts of my screentouch in storm 9530 is no longer working. As a result, i can't type some keys in the keyboard, i can't select some applications until i turn it some other direction and the screen does not slide easily, it keeps selecting the texts in an annoying manner. I don't know if it requires an update or this is a serious techinical problem. the operationg system is v5.0.0328

Please use plain text.

Re: Screentouch failing

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:

  • KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode

It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.

If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.

But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may need to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup to your PC...please review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post for instructions.

Do also keep in mind that, if indeed it is a hardware issue, then no amount of internet-distance diagnostics nor OS/software level fixes will be of any use at all.

Good luck and let us know!

Re: Screentouch failing

Thanks for the prompt reply. Rebooting in the safe mode failed and so i'm ready for more drastic actions. But i need guidance on how to do that. besides i'm having  a hard time downloading blackberry desktop manager where i can back up all my files. is there an alternatve backup for storm 9530?

Please use plain text.

Hmmm...unfortunately, I cannot interpret "a hard time" into any root cause...can you perhaps provide a bit more detail about that?

BBProtect is the only alternative, and is is far less capable than the Desktop Software. Plus, it would require you to do things on your device interface, which is exactly what is causing you issues.
