Hi, Forum.
I have the Storm 2 9550 with Verizon. Since the latest update (v5.0.0.607), my phone freezes constantly... to the point where the phone is really unusable.
I spend a lot of time looking at the mini clock spinning in the middle of the screen, while I try desperately to kill my phone. I did not have this problem at all before the update.
Is anyone experiencing this or have any advice?
Thanks.

Hi, my problem is fixed.
I couldn't figure out what was happening so I looked at the memory... as it felt like some kind of memory leak on a PC.
It wasn't a memory leak, but I ended up deleting an app and that prompted my phone to reboot. The reboot make my problems go away.
I'm new to the blackberry and thought that turning off my phone was the same as rebooting. Apparently not.

Glad I found this thread! Ever since loading v5.0.0.607 on my Storm 2, I've had similar issues. The device connect, then in the middle of synchronizing, it loses it's connection. I don't know what the programmers at RIM do, but it has nothing to do with quality control! Purchasing a Storm has been one of the worst mistakes I've made! When my contract is up, I'm getting either a Droid, or if Verizon starts to carry them, an iPhone. While the concept of the Storm is nice, it's execution has been poor at best. My wife's device is even worse, in addition to not wanting to sync, when she attempts to delete more than one message at a time, her device freezes! I've noticed that no one at RIM has bothered to address these issues. Seems they just igonore them, hoping they'll go away!

Well, again. Perhaps you should try rebooting the phone. Not just shutting it down, but rebooting.
Once I did that, my phone worked great again. You could also go back to the store and see if they can tweak it.
I started with a Droid, but I learned quickly that the Droid and iPhone don't have good voice quality. No on one could hear me at all. The people who love these devices are generally young and/or prefer to text rather than talk.
I absolutely love the Storm 2. Not only can everyone hear me, but it works very well in general. I should add that my provider is Verizon and I live in an urban area where connectivity is good.

I too have the same problem, I tried to update the OS and the phone started hanging, now it doesnt even start up. I removed the batter and left the phone dead for more than 24 hours, when i insert the batter the lights for all the four buttons light up and then nothing happens. This happened on the second day that I bought the phone and now my phone totally unusable. Blackberry doesnt have any support email or contact details all they have is the forum where it is only the users discussing the problem. There seem to be no solutions. This is only of worst phone and worst customer service that I have seen.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
First things first -- ALL formal support for BB's starts with the carriers and authorized resellers. RIM provides ZERO front line support. The carriers front all formal support and can escalate into RIM when necessary. These forums exist so that volunteers can try and help out other users as best they can since, as we all know, support from carriers can be somewhat challenging.
Second...the .607 OS is quite old now. I advise updating to VZW's most recently released version (.1015). You can use these instructions to do so:
Given what you've described, I first advise letting your BB charge for at least two hours before making the update attempt. If you have troubles, then come back with questions as we have other things we can advise you to attempt.
Good luck!
