Re: Storm 2 9550

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:

  • KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode

It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.

Good luck and let us know!

Re: Storm 2 9550

The battery was draining quickly so I put in a replacement battery and charged it.

Re: Storm 2 9550

OK...that's nice...but did that cure your originally reported issues?

Re: Storm 2 9550

It seems to be stopped in the blackberry startup screen with the load bar all the way across. Did it go into safe mode or should I try it again?

Re: Storm 2 9550

As per the KB, it will very specifically tell you if it is successful. If it does not do that, then it was not successful. Especially with a Storm series device, it can be very tricky and can take you several attempts. As I recall for me (it has been quite some time), it required waiting until the screen touch became responsive, then holding the ESC key to about 50%, then letting go, then pressing it for a quick hold at about 80%, then letting it complete. Or some other variation...it has been quite some time since I used a 9550.

So, keep trying, and try different variations. Hopefully you will find one that works. For, if you do not, then your only recourse will likely prevent you from backing up anything presently on your BB...hopefully you already have been using a regular and good backup procedure.

Good luck!

Re: Storm 2 9550

I backed up 5 months ago.  should have most information, but I can not access it since my blackberry will not connect to my computer.    I had a suggestion of getting a refurbished one then I would be able to see my contacts and picture ect. is this correct?

Another question is safe mode will the screen appear different?
