Storm 2 [possible replacement]

I own an unlocked Storm 2 on Vodafone and it's having the same screen issues described by VZW owners. I am not a Vodafone or Verizon customer. I'm actually on AT&T. VZW is doing a replacement program as we are all aware.

My questions are as follows:

1) Is there any way I can have my S2 replaced under any sort of warranty?

2) If no to (1) what would I need to do about getting it fixed?

Please use plain text.

Warranty coverage (generally) is to first owner, through the original retailer for one year from date of purchase.  As there was for lack of a better term a "recall" you might want to check your retailer for details and exclusions.

Re: Storm 2 [possible replacement]

Even if the phone is on Vodafone and Verizon would be my local retailer? I live in Georgia (USA).

OR would I actually need to contact Voda about it?

Re: Storm 2 [possible replacement]

Through whom was it purchased?  They are the ones who are contractually obligated to perform warranty service by virtue of "their" contract with RIM.  You can purchase a Blackberry and use it on a carrier other than the one through whom you purchased it.  That doesn't alter the warranty coverage.

Re: Storm 2 [possible replacement]

I have a similar problem. I purchased my phone via eBay but it is unlocked an I am using is with T-mobile. So is there a way I can get my 9550 replaced from either Verizon or RIM after all its a "recall" right?

Re: Storm 2 [possible replacement]

If your 9550 Was from a private seller "used" I doubt it as it was a warranty issue and warranty is one year to the original purchaser only. It was not like an automotive "safety" recall which survives transfer of ownership. Second point against is the switch from Verizon. RIM warranty is through carrier selling the device. That's two major strikes.

Re: Storm 2 [possible replacement]

I get it. So to fix this issue, does the "Torx screw-fix" help?

Re: Storm 2 [possible replacement]

Search for and read those threads and tread lightly IF you opt for that "fix"!
