Storm 2 stuck on App Error 523, won't connect to computer

My dad's Storm 2 bricked yesterday, and I've been unable to do anything about it. I've tried booting it in safe mode, and none of the computers I have will let me do anything to wipe it as they all fail to connect to it. Is it a matter of constantly restarting it with crossed fingers, or am I missing something?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

First off, you did not tell us the result of attempting to boot into Safe Mode...especially with a Storm-series device, the proper sequence of press/release/hold/etc. of the ESC key can be quite tricky to get just right, so you may need to try multiple times. As I recall, I used to do it by holding the ESC key up front, releasing it mid-way through the loading bar, and then holding it again for a bit...something like that and I was able to get it into Safe Mode.

Once in Safe Mode, you should be able to do all that you need to do...so I can only assume you've not been successful. But, perhaps these KBs might be useful:

Do keep in mind, however, that if the root of the problem is the hardware itself, then no amount of remedy we can suggest (other than in-hand evaluation by a qualified technician) will be of any use...

Good luck!
