Storm 9520 Will Not Start/Load

Hi,

I woke this morning to find my Storm frozen at 10:22pm (yesterday).  Strange i thought.

The screen was frozen and so i did the usual trick, battery out and reboot.

The phone starts up on the black screen as normal and loads to the white screen with the Blackberry name and logo and then nothing.

I have tried to connect to the Blackberry Deskyop Software to see if there is an issue but it will not connect.  It states that the software manager cannot communicate with the connected device.

I have tried using the Loader app in c/program files/common files/RIM/apploader and all i can get is a list of APPS that are on the phone, no operating system which i thought should be listed.

What has happened ?

Anybody able to assist or point me in the right direction to get this working again as i need this for work.

MTIA

Simon

Re: Storm 9520 Will Not Start/Load

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:

  • KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode

It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.

If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.

But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may need to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup to your PC...please review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post for instructions.
