Hi BJensen,

Welcome to the Suppport Community!

Since your BlackBerry® Storm™ 9530 smartphone is unable to connect with the BlackBerry® Desktop Software, you may need to start a reload of the BlackBerry® Device Software without the battery inserted. This article should help. http://bbry.lv/onZ4Wf

Hope this is helpful.

Re: Storm 9530 Verizon

I just ran through a similar issue and had to reinstall the OS. I didn't have my original USB cable to connect the phone to the computer. I went to Verizon and purchased a $25 USB cable. Got home, connected the phone to the computer but the computer never registered a USB device being connected. Tried it on a couple other computers, same thing.

I ended up borrowing an original BB USB cable from a friend, connected the phone to the computer and it detected the device right away. It seems like the cable is proprietary in some way and you must use the original cable. I did not test exhaustively so I am not 100% sure about that but I would highly recommend using the original cable.
