Storm will not start. Dead/Black screen.

I got this off a friend real cheap as he couldnt be stuffed trying to fix it. Its pretty much brand new. He was playing with it and all of a sudden it just stopped and shut down. Cannot start since. Red light comes on for 5 or so seconds when the charger is plugged in after a long while. I had it plugged into the PC via USB, it would not detect at all until I mucked with it. Pulled the battery or did something and the red light showed, USB detected it and a small battery with a lightning bolt through it showed. Unfortunately I had to disconnect the thing. It will not do that same thing.

Anyone know how to get it working again?

Re: Storm will not start. Dead/Black screen.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!

It sounds as if the battery is dranied too low for it to do anything. There is a minimum charge required (not sure how much). Best thing is to use the wall charger and let it charge for several hours. Then try to power up.

Do you mean your device is not detecting any power through USB? Did you try wall AC charger?

Re: Storm will not start. Dead/Black screen.

this other guy from the forum and I also have the same problem, it will be a great help if someone can actually help us solve this.

and yes, it is not detecting the charger, at least thats my guess.

PS. I already tried to charge it for the whole night by wall charger.

Alfred

Indeed...there are many possible causes. Bad charger. Bad Battery. Bad USB/charge port. Bad device. Best suggestion is to take it into your place of purchase for warranty evaluation.

Of course, for the private or eBay purchase, such may not be possible. Parts and even service can be obtained from this vendor that comes highly recommended by an Expert on this forum who I would trust completely.

Re: Storm will not start. Dead/Black screen.

I have tried the AC adaptor but now I am going to try USB, it worked once and it may work again.

Sadly, since you bought it "on the cheap", you don't have a place of purchase to take it for warranty evaluation. It may be that the battery has gone bad, the connections inside have gone bad, or a host of other possiblities. The link I provided you earlier might be your only hope. It's really tough to diagnose without having hands on...

Yeah, well I am 90% sure its the battery though. New one coming from eBay so I'll just have to wait and see!
