Syncing my Storm with my Mac...

This is my first BB post so apoligies if this has been covered...

My wife and I have had our Storms for several days now and we love the phone itself.  However,  I have searched the forums and the web in general since we purchaed them in hopes of finding a FREE all in one syncing solution for my Storm and Mac.  I have located the PocketMac and the Media Sync apps on the BB site but they are not compatible with each other based on what I have read.  I've also downloaded the trial version of Missing Sync, which has worked, however, syncing music seems extremly slow (10 songs in 20 minutes) and after my 14 days I will have to shell out $40.

Is there any hope of a Free Sync Software that will actually sync iCal, Address Book, Sticky Notes, iPhoto, iTunes and possibly Video?  Why would BB not have a single syncing solution available for Mac owners if they truely want to take back customers who have previously jumped to iPhone or are now considering it?  If anyone is aware of a free program that will do this, please let me know.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Re: Syncing my Storm with my Mac...

I have to agree with you...it is frustrating that there really isn't anything for Mac...yet. The programs you listed are really the only ones available. The other option is to run a windows parellel or something like that so you can use the BB software that came with the phone. I, myself, have not come to this option but unless there is a solution soon I might just have to.

Re: Syncing my Storm with my Mac...

Thanks for trying Jeff (I appreciate it!) but I've tried that one... it only solves part of the problem which is a large part of us Mac users frustration. :smileymad:  With PocketMac you can not sync iTunes, iPhoto or Videos... you can only sync iCal, Address Book and Notes.

Missing Sync appears to be the only solution out there but it's absurd that we have to pay $40 for something that should be standard with a BB.  If anyone else has any ideas... please post.

In regards to Missing Sync... does anyone know if slow sync times are typical of this product?

Re: Syncing my Storm with my Mac...

My first post please be patient. If anybody has any clue, Please help. I am trying to sync my Storm to my Mac I am using the Microsoft Entourage and the PocketMac for Blackberry programs I am not having any problems with the actual sync but it seems that not all the info is transfering. It transfers the calender and all my contacts and most of the personal info like address and email, but leaves off the birthday and the anniversary any idea why this is happening and what I can do.

  Thanks

[ Edited ]

I didn't like pocket mac. The missing sync application from Mark/Space works the best for me. It costs 39.99 but I find it works great for contacts, iCal and iPhoto. The newest version, that was just released, allows for bluetooth syncing. But I found that to be buggy and slow.

btw- If you got the missing sync for BB storm before the newest version, you can upgrade for free. Also, with all of these systems, downloading the non-official "up-grades" via a mac is a holy grail only for the very brave or techno-geeky.

I also found that I had all sorts of trouble with iTunes . But I figured that between my iTouch and having Slacker on the Storm( a great app!), I had my bases covered.

Re: Syncing my Storm with my Mac...

I just found a new software called DoubleTwist (http://doubletwist.com) on CrackBerry.com today.  Looks like a good alternative to Media Sync... should allow you to sync more media content.  This still doesnt handle iCal and Address Book but at least I can use PocketMac and this together, where I could not with Media Sync.  Hopfeully there will be an all in one solution soon... so sad BB didnt plan ahead for this.

Re: Syncing my Storm with my Mac...

Yep, doubleTwist easily and quickly allows you to sync (through drag and drop) photos, audio tracks or videos to your BB device.  It just got launched on the Mac OSx Leapord platform this week and will be out on Window in less than two weeks.

The extra features are sending the media from your phone or Hd to your friends and family -- just had to have web 2.0 features, of course.  I've been using it to move lots of video files around from computer to computer.
