Hi all,
For those of you who are Telus Mobility customers, you can now officially update your Telus BlackBerry Storm to Operating System version 4.7.0.122. You can grab the update from Telus' BlackBerry download site here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code
Details are below. Enjoy!

Hello Krypto,
Thanks for the update. "Unfortunately" I'm with Verizon, and not Telus, but I really wanted to get any OS update to install in my 9530 storm (running a DEC/08 .75 while the rest of the world is on.122 and above makes me really sad). Would you be able to, fist, provide me with a link where I could install even a non-official more updated version? How about a 5.0 OS version? If not would you know anyone that could do that? Can you forward my request to someone inside RIM that could?
I know I'm one in a million, but I thought I would come here and give it a shot.
Regards,
Amaury Neto - a long time RIM customer, but not so long Verizon's.

Amaury, I think you can take it from this that Verizon is getting pretty close. Telus tends to be a lot like Verizon with a lot of business clients they want to ensure will be fine with the update, so they do fairly extensive testing. If Telus has now accepted this release, I wouldn't be surprised if Verizon also updated soon (they may or may not accept .122).
But if you'd really rather not wait, you can actually install this version on your phone. Note that if you do so and you have any issues, you'll have to downgrade back to .75 first before taking it into Verizon. Most people seem to be quite happy with this update (and I'm actually thinking of installing it just to have an official update on my phone again for a little while
.
Unfortunately I can't direct you towards any leaked OSes (seeing as we're on the official BlackBerry Community Support Forums), but if you choose to install this OS, I've created a thorough set of instructions you can use: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/mess
As a heads up, there are no leaked versions of OS 5.0 for the Storm at this point in time, so if you see these anywhere, they are hybrids only and I don't recommend installing them. There have been a lot of hybrids popping up lately - seems like everyone is making them - but they are not tested and as such have a much higher risk of bricking your phone.
Feel free to let us know if you have any other questions!

When does the version 5 software for telus clients that have the storm 9530 comes out. It has been a long time since you updated the 9530 blackberry for Telus customers. Why?

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
As for your first statement, is that a question or a comment? If a question, to answer would require access to and revelation of internal proprietary information...pretty much not allowed. Plus, the carriers control the release cycles to their end users...RIM does not.
As to your second statement/question -- same answer...the carrier is in control.
But, your wording intrigues me -- you said "...since you updated...". That indicates to me that you think that, on these forums, you are speaking directly to RIM and/or your carrier. Neither of those assumptions is correct -- these forums are a user-to-user support channel, not a user-to-RIM (nor carrier) conduit. As such, it is unlikely that they will see what you have written. But, quite honestly, your questions, as I am interpreting them, are better directed to your carrier since they are in control.
Good luck!
