Visual Voicemail "incomplete xml error"

I signed up for visual voice mail. It worked for about 4 hours.  Then I knew I had a voice mail and it did not register.  When I hit the menu to check new voice mails it responsed with an error stating "incomplete xml Would you like to call your mailbox now? with a box to check 'yes' or 'no'"  If I hit yes it takes me to my voice mail and I can listen to the message, but it does not appear in my visual voice mail screen.  Verizon has been no help and the rep is "researching" the problem. I tried to reinstall the program, but that did not help.  Anyone else face this issue?  Any tips or advice would be appreciated.

Re: Visual Voicemail "incomplete xml error"

I'm having the same problem. Verizon tech support said they would make a ticket for my problem which should be solved in 24-48 hours. The visual voicemail never worked and give the error message "incomplete xml". The phone doesn't even notify me if I have a voicemail at all.

Re: Visual Voicemail "incomplete xml error"

I was finally able to get Verizon to provide a fix.  I had to call tech support at 1-800-922-0204 and go through a couple of levels to get to someone who could look up a fix.  I had to delete all voice mails from my mailbox and she had to rebuild and/or recreate a new voice mail box for me.  Then I had to delete and reinstall the visual voice mail program.  Then I had to create a new voice mail box.  It is now working..... We will see for how long.  :smileyhappy:

Re: Visual Voicemail "incomplete xml error"

You could try to delete the app from options->advanced options->application,  highlight visual voicemail and choose delete from the menu.  after restart ,  download the app again and run it again.

Re: Visual Voicemail "incomplete xml error"

It wasn't really solved. No need to reach behind your head and grab your nose! I'm finding out the Ver Techs do not know much...sorry to say. Really need more training. On many occassions, I got misleading information and solutions that weren't required...again the reach behind your head syndrome! I am sure some of those voice mails you didn't want to delete!!!!

As Stormk wrote, delete the app then re-install. It happened to me and thats the procedure I did to cure the solution.

Re: Visual Voicemail "incomplete XML error"

Subject "Incomplete XML": Hello Everybody, I became a BlackBerry Storm user the first week it came out. My Visual Voice mail only worked for a week or two! For quite sometimes every time it accesses the voice mail it pops up a box that says "INCOMPLETE XML" would you like to dial your voice mail?" I have read your blogs and implemented every step without success! FYI, I have tried the following: 1. Download and reinstall visual voice mail software and rebooted. 2. I have cleaned-out my voice mail. 3. I spoke with the knowledgeable, Verizon wireless technician and he advised me to go to OPTION-->ADVANCE OPTIONS-->PICK VISUAL VOICE MAIL and click PROPERTIES and switch "Custom" to "Allow". I have done everything except "Rebuilding" my mail box over by customer service because that require another telephone line other than my cell phone. I believe the "Rebuilding" the voice mail box is the only viable option left for me to do. "DON'T WAIST YOUR TIME WITH TECH SUPPORT, MOST OF THEM KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THIS!" Good Luck and Happy New Year.

Re: Visual Voicemail "incomplete XML error"

****SOLUTION****SOLUTION****

I am pleased to put the following steps here for my fellow blackberry storm users to get the Visual Voice mail back to work. After hours spending at Verizon Wireless store, the following was found to be a viable option, without the need for tech-support involvement:

1. First connect your blackberry to your home PC or laptop and back up your cell phone data base. Once you open the blackberry desktop manager on your pc, you will see a choice for Backup/Restore. After Backup, also "sync" your files with your PC.

2. Then go to your phone, on the first screen push on "OPTIONS", then push on "SECURITY OPTION" then push on "GENERAL SETTING"; here you do not see a choice to pick! then push on the blackberry 'logo' next to the green telephone botton. Remember, on the screen under 'General  Setting' you do not see a choice to pick unless you push on the logo. This is a hard botton outside of the screen. Then Click or push on "WIPE HANDHELD". This process would do what we call in computer world, a 'Reformatting the hard disk'. Once you waited 5 minutes the system connects to the Verizon network and download the neccesary software for your phone to work again.

3. At this time you need to go to the main screen and push on "APPLICATION CENTER" and pick 'Visual Voice Mail' software to download. You must do this step before reloading you files that you backed up or prior to Re-Sync. Once you downloaded visual voice mail log-in and put your code and allow it to transfer you voice mails to your phone.

4. Now you ccan go to you computer PC and 'RESTORE' or since I did not have too many personal files, I just 'Sync' my PC with the Blackberry and I was back in business.  What a hassel!   GOOD LUCK.....
