What happened to my bookmarks? And I can't even add them back....

I upgraded my Telus Storm to OS 5.0.0.419, and it all went smoothly, except my browser bookmarks got deleted.  Not a big problem as I only had a handful anyway so I went about going to the websites and adding them back in.  The problem is that they don't appear in the browser's bookmarks. All I have in the bookmarks is:

I can't add any bookmark folders, I can't find any other folder on my device, and the bookmarks I've tried adding don't show up anywhere.

Any ideas?

Do you have a recent back up on your PC?

The upgrade should have made a backup itself, hopefully bookmarks were included.

Connect your device to the USB > PC.

Open Desktop Manager > Backup Restore > Advanced.

On the left hand side, choose File > Open and find the most recent backup IPD file. The upgrade backup should be named "LOADER" in the filename, still ending in IPD.

Once that is loaded to your left hand window, scroll down to the Bookmarks and see if there is any data or filesize there. If so, click on it to highlight it and then click the middle arrow facing right to move that data to the device.

Follow the remaining prompts to complete and unplug the the device, check the device for your book marks.

Re: What happened to my bookmarks? And I can't even add them back....

Unfortunately, that didn't quite work.  I am on BES Express and when I go to the Backup and Restore, the Bookmarks listing is greyed out and there is a notation that "Databases that are unavaiable in the list have been configured for wireless synchronization or wireless backup and are read only.  You cannot restore or clear them."

Before upgrading to OS5.0 this was not an issue.

I also cannot create any new bookmarks to replace them on my Storm.  I go through the process in the menu, but in the end there is nothing created.

[ Edited ]

I found a partial answer.  This allowed me to recreate the bookmarks folder and I can now replace the lost bookmarks.  It didn't actually bring the old bookmarks back from the dead.

This lasted  until I restored the DESKTOP [SYNC] service book, adn then it appearsthat BESX intervened.

Got it.... finally

there is an option in BESX that allows or disallows users to back up or restore data using BB Web Desktop Manager.  It was set to NO.  Not sure when, but all of sudden I could restore everything again!.
