What is OS DRM?

Hi there,

I am confused by the different versions of the OS for the 9520. I see some are DRM versions and some are non-DRM.

I know DRM stands for Digital Rights Management, however I do not see what this has to do with a phone OS?

Could someone please explain this to me?

Many thanks,

Graham.

Re: What is OS DRM?

There is a second version of the 9520 device that doesn't allow DRM; the current 9520 you have is DRM, i.e., blocks music files (primarily iTunes) with DRM coding.

Re: What is OS DRM?

You have to have a another DRM OS installed to the PC.

In that DRM OS, delete the files from the JAVA folder.

Now, install the nodrm OS to the PC. After done, move the files from the nodrm JAVA folder to the empty drm JAVA folder.

Now, remove the nodrm OS from the PC.

Run loader.exe and install.

Re: What is OS DRM?

Hi all ,

I want to implement  DRM in my application.

I tried using the drm api net.rim.device.api.drmManager as follows:

public byte[] getLicenseChallenge(String contentURL,
                                  String[] permissions)

contentURL = file://localhost/SDCard?Blackberry/pictures/logo.png

permissions= giving all the permissions

PERMISSION_DISPLAY, PERMISSION_EXECUTE, PERMISSION_PLAY, PERMISSION_PRINT

i am getting null response, byte[]  rights data.

Please let me know where i am getting wrong.

By default what is the permission set for a file.

i also tried to change the contentURL to a file in the SDcard but again the response rights data is null.

Please help
