What is a holster?

Some of the apps on the App World refer to actions the app will take when the phone is either inserted, in, taken out of, or out of, the "holster".

I use a pocket. I used to use a leather case I guess you could call a holster, but these apps seem to be talking about a carrying device the phone is sensitive enough to, that it knows when it's in it or not. Some electronic chip in a "holster" that makes it different from what I bought early on in my ownership of my Storm?

Or does it just know when it's in my pocket that it's in a holster? If so, how does it know that?

Re: What is a holster?

Official, OEM, and properly manufactured sleeves, holsters, and other such things have embedded into them magnets, placed in specific positions, that cause the BB to react as you have indicated. Non-official sleeves etc. that do not have the magnets, or have them in the wrong place, will not therefore cause the BB to react. Furthermore, a sleeve that works for one BB model may not work for another; the receptor locations on the BBs themselves are not consistent across the BB product lines.

Good luck!
