What is this icon on the Storm?

On the desktop below the time and date, I have a yellow dot with a number to the left of it.  I  think it is some type of message or alert, but I cannot find it.  The yellow dot looks like it has markings on like a pound sign.  Any information is appreciated.  Thank you.

That could be a Browser or Wap Push message.

 

Go to your Messages folder > Menu > View Folders > and open both the Wap Push and Browser Push messages folder.

 

Find the unread message and read it or delete it.

 

Does that clear the notification icon on the homescreen?
