Where are my contacts saved on my computer?

I backed up my bb storm 9500 to my computer using the bb desktop manager. I now need access to my contacts list on my computer as my phone is broken and away getting repaired. I have no other way of getting some of the contacts but can't seem to find where on my computer it has decided to store them so that I can view them.

Please help

Thanks

Re: Where are my contacts saved on my computer?

Greetings, and welcome to the BlackBerry.com Support Forums.

Your backup files are stored in a *.ipd file extension, often in your "My Documents" folder.

So, look there, or search your entire PC for *.ipd and you should find it.

Now, the IPD file is not usable by any other program except the BlackBerry.

If you want to use the data within that file, you'll need an application named ABC Amber IPD Converter to extract the address book, etc., for use.

When you get your BlackBerry returned, you can use the IPD file to restore your data to the new device.

Re: Where are my contacts saved on my computer?

My file is saved as a BBB file, how do I view the contacts? Is there a BBB converter I can download?

Where can I download ABD Amber IPD Converter?

Thanks

That .bbb file is a backup file from the newer BBDesktop Software v7.

There are a couple of options for extracting and viewing data from the backup files.

1. The IPD Parse macro is designed to read a Blackberry IPD file and create reports in MSWord or MSExcel. It is free, and you can find out more here: https://sites.google.com/site/ipdparse/home
For .bbb backup files, use this macro to extract seven "primary" IPD files (Address Book, Calendar, SMS Messages, Tasks, Memos, PIN Messages and Phone Call Logs)
IPD bbb Extract macro https://sites.google.com/site/ipdbbbextract
These IPD files can subsequently be used as inputs to the other macro, IPD Parse, to produce reports.

2. Another options is MagicBerry from MenaStep... which extract from a backup IPD or BBB file, split IPD files, etc. http://menastep.com/pages/magicberry.php

3. Another IPD and BBB file utility is BlackBerry Backup Extractor, and is available for PC and Mac, and can be found here: http://www.blackberryconverter.com/ There is a free and paid version.
