my Blackberry Bold 9900 easily crash now with soo many errors! is OS reinstall urgently recommended?

I have Blackberry Bold 9900.

and now it's always easily crash, and/or very SLOW lagging in all the processing,

and plus, when I pressed the "alt + lglg" , it listed sooo many errors now, just to list a few of them:

- "E Twitter - BB Request Error: java.io.EOFException"

- "E Twitter - BBRequest Error: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError"

- "E twitter - BBRequestError: java.io.InterruptedIOException: Local connection timed out after ~ 120000"

- "@APPNAME@ - Exception while running a Runnable: net.rim.device.extra.app.facebook.mailbox.Mailbox

java.lang.IllegalArgumentException:

RegistrationToken is invalid. Please verify if you are still registered."

- "@APPNAME@ - Application is terminated!, aborting callback: Succeeded"

- "@APPNAME@ - Exception in Callback, review the callback (Failed):

java.lang.NullPointerException"

- "@APPNAME@ - BBRequestError: java.io.InterruptedIOException: Local connection timed out after ~ 120000"

- "net.rim.tcp - OPsx -5 "

and then the LONGER ones, but the main headlines of the errors are for example:

- "Name: IllegalArgumentException

RegistrationToken is invalid. Please verify if you are still registered."

(and then the whole "net_rim_bb_browser_olympia_1" things come up, very LONG list!)
- "Name: IllegalStateException

Device currently in low memory state. Adds and updates are temporarily ignored."
(and then same thing as above previously, with the whole LONG list with "net_rim_bb_browser_lib-4(4DA686FA)" keeps appearing on the error list!)

and many other errors,

but those are the *main* errors listed in the "alt + lglg" window.

and PLUS, the BBM (blackberry messenger) now also often errors sooo much! one example is: the "blackberry uncaught exception application net rim bb qm peer(280)" thing! and then the BBM suddenly crashes, or reloading again all my Contact Lists. sometimes the BB group didn't appear! etc etc

and the same also with the browser, usually now after about 15-20 minutes, when I try to use the browser again for example: typing the URL address in the "Type search or address" box above (in the browser window), it tries to reload the URL/link address, but then suddenly it CLOSED DOWN on itself!

.

With ALL the very frustrating errors list above,..is OS complete delete & reinstall is urgently recommended?
or not necessarily?

Please help me, because lately I've been soooo frustrated with Blackberry for always giving me many kind of errors!

(PS: I have actually brought my Blackberry to the Blackberry/phone store to get it fixed (and even a complete re-install the newer OS!!) for already about FOUR times already,...and yet, I still don't understand why even now with the OS version 6 , it still gets sooo many errors, and getting worse too!)

thank you

Well, until you added your PS, I was going to recommend that...but since it's been attempted, I can't see how it would help. But maybe this tedious process will:

  1. Cleanly load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
  2. If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
  3. If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
  4. Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
  5. If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents

When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.

If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.

If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.

Good luck and let us know!

Re: my Blackberry Bold 9900 easily crash now with soo many errors! is OS reinstall urgently recommended?

Hi thanks for the quick & detailed response.

Can you kindly explain in specific 'step-by-step' details on how to load/reload my OS "bare bones" then?.. because I'm not a 'techie' here.. so please kindly explain/describe in a very layman/ordinary terms.

thank you!

OK...first the OS reload in general...

At the top of each device forum, there should be some "sticky" threads that discuss the OS levels available for many models. If they include your model, then please use those as reference as you proceed. Otherwise, you will have to dig through the official download portal for OS packages for your model:

From a PC, you can install any compatible (e.g., for your exact BB Model Number) OS package to a BB via this procedure:

Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC. If that OS package is from a carrier other than the carrier for which your BB was originally manufactured, then delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
  • C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

Be sure that you remove, from your PC, any other BB device OS packages as having more than one installed to the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.

As for the "bare bones" portion...when you are at a particular point, you will be presented with a screen of line items (starting with the core OS, then having language packs, word dictionaries, Maps, BBM, etc.) as a list of what it is going to install to your BB as part of loading the OS. Any of those line items you can control (some you cannot), you would ensure are NOT going to install to your BB on that iteration...leave off anything at all that is optional. That is "Step 1".

This image is for a particular version...what you see may be different (the selection boxes may be on the right instead), but that's the general idea of controlling what should and should not be included. In this image, you would be sure that all of those dark black items are NOT checked (and you cannot control the gray check mark items) as well as the green check mark under the main selection window (make sure that is also NOT checked).

For Step 4, you then use the Desktop Software instead of the above AppLoader bypass method, and this time you go back again to that same screen (via the "Update" selection, I think), and add just one item. If Step 5 goes OK, you return again to Step 4 and do that again...and again...and again...

  • Note that you can actually do this via the bypass method, but it's going to reload your OS each time along with the newly selected item...it can be faster to just use the Desktop Software so that it only has to load the new item alone and not the entire OS.

The whole process can take quite some time...you must be sure, at both steps 3 and 5, that you wait long enough to know that things are OK. I can't tell you how long you should wait, but I'd not be a bit surprised if several days were spent waiting on each of those steps, and at each iteration of those steps...even perhaps a week on each iteration of those steps. (I did say it was tedious!!)

Good luck and let us know!
