Since i did the 5.0 upgrade yesterday on my Storm, my battery has died several times already and i can ususally get at least a couple of days on a charge. is anyone else having this problem and does anyone have any idea what is causing this or what can be done about it?

I unfortunately don't have a solution, but I am having the same problem. My phone may just make it through the work day, but it definitely won't last me until I get home this evening to charge it.

I am too. The screen keeps cycling off and on. I suspect that, in my case anyway, this constant display cycling is the power draw. This is very dissapointing as I barely have enough life on my battery as it was.

I have pretty much the opposite experience.  RIM really needs to figure out an tool that answers "What's draining my battery" - a few weeks ago my battery was draining quite quickly but then it magically went away.  Not knowing what is causing this is a pain, RIM!

Same here. I installed the update yesterday. Full charge this morning, but my battery was completely dead before the end of today. I like the changes in the update, but not enough to make my battery not last a day! This needs to be corrected ASAP. If not, I assume that we can downgrade to 4.7, right?

ive also had an opposite experience. before my battery would die very quickly after playing music and the music app being shutdown. and now with my brightness turned up from 10 to 50 it last longer then ever

Same as original poster, my phone used to last up to two days with normal use.  I downloaded 5.0 last night and today my battery was drained by noon.  I hope this gets resolved quickly.

Seems like the same problems with the previous OS v4.7.0.148 with people upgrading to it from v4.7.0.75. The same questions are asked, do you have any "third party" applications running in the background? Close, not just press escape, or  "end" to get out of programs? I don't know, read something about v5.0 OS, just press escape or something to get out of programs?

Well I sure don't get this, now after a day, this thing is working great, battery life is at least twice as good as it has been before the update, don't know what changed to convert it from vampire like battery sucking to superman overnight. Well a common phrase in the electronics industry is "It is all FM" (F-ing Magic)

I am also a user who is loving the OS 5 update.  My only complaint has to do with the voice dialing (that now is absolutely useless).  Otherwise I love the update, granted the screen dims, but indoors it works and looks beautiful (its almost as if the contrast has increased so the detail is sharper).  As for battery life, I have noticed an increase in battery life since the upgrade and I am a heavy SMS/Email/Browser/phone user.
